The 16 barrel with carbine length gas system has been around for several decades (Colt R6001 was made in 1977).īoth of these 16 and 14.5 models had carbine length gas systems, and have proven themselves to be reliable. You can make a carbine length 16 gun work properly but it takes some fiddling or a barrel guy that knows whats up. If you dont just go 16 midlength gas system and call it good. If you have an SBRd receiver why not do 14.5 midlength. I have run both lengths in all kinds of situations and they handle the same. ![]() For all practical use, ballistic, and other considerations its 6 one way and 12 dozen the other way. ![]()
